Ostara is the goddess of fertility and is celebrated at the time of the Spring equinox. Saxons called the goddess Ostara Eostre which is the goddess of Spring Easter is derived from Eostre the goddess of Spring. 

The goddess Ostara had symbols which are the hare and the egg. The rabbits or hare and eggs from the goddess Ostara remain part of Easter symbols today.
